Did you know the way we dress can have a direct impact on how we feel, affecting both our mood and wellbeing?
Especially in the current lock down situation. I’ve been guilty of spending far too much time in my pyjamas or in sweatpants and baggy t-shirts. My hair has been in a constant messy bun and I’ve not looked at my makeup bag in weeks. And in correlation to this I haven’t been feeling my usual self.
What we wear really can have an effect on our mood. So if you need a little mood booster here are seven tips on how fashion could help.
Add a Pop of Colour
Different colours have been known to make us feel differently. Looking into colour psychology for example red can make you feel confident whilst green can help make you feel calmer. You don’t need to colour block your whole outfit but adding in a colourful item such as a top or an accessory could help you feel more energetic or even a slick of bright lipstick or some bright coloured high heels could perk your mood.
Wear Well Fitted Clothes
When we look good we feel good. So wearing clothing that fits us well is going to help with confidence and generally feeling good. Knowing your body shape and what looks good on you will really help here. For example I am very short and petite and as much as I love a comfy bagging hoody when I’m at home, I know it does nothing for my shape and I wouldn’t feel confident or attractive leaving the house wearing it. Wear a Fragrance
Fragrance well known to be linked to memories. So wearing a fragrance that reminds you of good times can be an instant perk. Trying new fragrances with zesty notes can make you feel energised whilst scents with jasmine can make you feel calmer.
Try a Luxe Fabric
The texture of our clothes can also affect how we feel. Wearing luxurious fibres such as silk and cashmere will not only be comfortable against your skin but you’ll feel more indulgent and put together. Even trying clothing such as luxury lounge wear can brighten your day.
Wear Matching Lingerie
Wearing matching underwear can really change your attitude to the day and help you feel like you’ve got your life together. Wearing something colourful can make you feel bolder and slipping on something sexy and luxurious can really make you feel confident and empowered.
Wear some Make Up
I don’t know about you but when I have made an effort with my hair and put on some makeup I instantly feel brighter and more confident. Spending time making yourself feel good is part of a good well-being routine and shouldn’t be forgotten about. Little things such as trying a new eye shadow or painting your nails can be a great mood enhancer.
Accessorize
An accessory can be a little mood booster, it could help you feel more glam or put together. It could be something bold and bright that makes you happy to wear or carry. Accessories can really make an outfit and change up a style so trying out different things is always good fun to see how they make you feel. It might be a cute little clutch bag or some bold colourful earrings. Try out some different styles and see how you feel.
